Job Summary:
Founded in 2016, the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard's Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS) aims to study and promote human flourishing, and to develop systematic approaches to the synthesis of knowledge across disciplines.
Christianity & The Common Good (CCG) is a new initiative launched by the Human Flourishing Program, working closely with the Program on Biblical Law & Christian Legal Studies (PBLCLS) at Harvard Law School. The focus of CCG is to establish intellectual space for sustained academic and scholarly engagement to advance human flourishing through a lens of Biblical and traditional Christian theological literature.
The Program Manager will report to the Human Flourishing Program Executive Director and will oversee all of the operational activities of CCG including developing and managing administrative and financial systems and processes, communications strategies, event management and planning, donor engagement efforts, hiring and management of future staff, and processes related to advancing CCG research and teaching including engagement of researchers and visiting scholars.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Administrative - manage day-to-day operations; interview, hire, and manage staff; assign and review work of staff; schedule CCG activities; manage all aspects of course creation and delivery; act as a liaison for affiliated faculty and researchers
- Lead day-to-day administration and operations of CCG, including managing the annual program calendar, developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, and ensuring alignment with HFH and PBLCLS policies.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise CCG staff, student workers, and temporary personnel; assign and review work; provide ongoing feedback and coaching; conduct annual employee performance reviews.
- Oversee course and seminar creation and delivery for CCG-affiliated offers e.g., coordinating with faculty on syllabi and schedules, managing course logistics, rooms, and materials, and ensuring timely communication with enrolled students.
- Serve as primary administrative liaison for CCG with IQSS Business Operations team, affiliated faculty and researchers, HFH and PBLCLS staff and visitors; resolve operational issues and escalate complex matters as needed.
- Develop and maintain internal tracking systems (e.g. contracts, projects, commitments, deliverables, and reporting requirements) to ensure CCG activities are implemented on time and within scope.
Financial Operations - manage day-to-day financial operations for CCG including budgeting and developing and managing systems that track finances, invoicing systems, purchasing systems, and other financial processes.
- Developing financial systems and processes.
- Entering, tracking and reconciling invoices, reimbursements, purchasing card transactions, and vendor payments in Harvard financial systems.
- Monitoring CCG budget and research funding in collaboration with IQSS Finance teams
- Preparing regular financial reports for the Executive Director.
- Flagging variances, or potential overruns, and recommends adjustments as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with Harvard, FAS, IQSS, HSPH, and financial policies.
Communications
- Develop and execute communications strategy for CCG, including content planning and messaging aligned with the initiative’s mission and priorities.
- Establish and maintain the CCG website, social media, and email lists; track and analyze engagement metrics to refine outreach approaches.
- Develop, plan, write, edit and distribute key communication deliverables such as monthly newsletters, event announcements, donor updates, and annual activity summaries.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the CCG Board, Faculty Co-Directors and affiliates, students, donors, and external partners; respond to inquiries and coordinate timely, accurate information sharing.
- Collaborate with HFH, PBLCLS, and other Harvard communications teams to promote CCG initiatives and ensure consistent branding and messaging across platforms.
Event Management
- Design and manage annual robust schedule of CCG conferences, seminars, workshops, and related events, in consultation with faculty leads and affiliates, to advance CCG’s scholarly and public-facing goals.
- Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including inviting speakers, developing timelines and documents; securing venues, arranging AV support; coordinating catering; and managing participant travel and accommodations.
- Lead event marketing and publicity efforts, including drafting and distributing promotional materials, coordinating website and social media postings, and managing invitation lists and email campaigns.
- Manage registration processes and attendee communications from invitation through post-event follow-up; track attendance and collect feedback to inform future programming.
- Serve as primary liaison for speakers, panelists, and co-sponsoring organizations, ensuring that all Harvard policies and budget parameters are followed.

Basic Qualifications (required):
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in educational and/or social impact leadership
Additional Qualifications and Skills (preferred):
- 2+ years of project and event management experience preferred
- Strong communication (oral, written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a team effectively across different projects and work streams
- Ability to work independently, analyze problems, and develop practical solutions
- Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week
